Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2 p.m.

New Delhi : The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 p.m. on Tuesday as Trinamool Congress (TMC) members created a ruckus after Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu rejected their adjournment notice over alleged interference of West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi in state work.

Soon after the House met, Naidu completed important legislative business and rejected several notices given by the TMC, TDP and Akali Dal.

As TMC's notice was rejected, party member Derek O'Brian opposed the move. He was heard asking how a Governor could interfere in an elected government's work.

He was seen holding a paper in his hand and heard saying that he wanted to table the letter of the Governor. The contents of the letter were not known.

Naidu asked the TMC leader not to raise the issue of the Governor in the House but O'Brian continued with his remarks."You don't want the house to run. I will adjourn the House. I am adjouring the House till 2 p.m," he said.

Before the commencement of the proceedings, TMC and TDP MPs staged a protest near Mahatma Gandhi's statue in Parliament's premises.

The TMC members were protesting against the rising prices of petrol and diesel while the TDP MPs protested against alleged discrimination by the Centre with Andhra Pradesh in the Union Budget.
